Are you sure that they are cold sores? Strange place for a cold sore but not impossible.

My husband was getting recurring sores in his nose a while back. He was constantly having to apply Antibiotic ointment and steroid cream to heal them up but they would always return. Faster and Faster as time went on. After some research resolving them was simple. We realized this is commonly caused by staph that is typical present there becomes a problem and for most people vitamin A deficiency is the culprit. He started taking a Centrum multi vitamin and the problem resolved in a matter of days. This was after months of suffering so we were impressed but not surprised. Problems usually clear up quickly when you take a root cause approach. In this instance lack of Vitamin A was the issue. However, I could certainly see other places my husband may be deficient and went with a basic coverage multivitamin instead of a singular A supplement. Deficiencies elsewhere can and do contribute to skin problems. Centrum is one of the few brands that doesnt have excessive amounts of the vitamins B5, B6, B12, C, or Iodine. All of which can fuel skin problems when taken in high doses. (vitamin mega-dosing and your skin is a subject for another blog) These days my husband eats more full fat dairy products and skips the vitamin.
If you are sure they are cold sores, I would still consider nutrition first and foremost but if that is in order then the next biggest factors would be getting your 8 hours of sleep every night, limiting caffeinated beverages to 2 cups per day and watching your salt and sugar intake. Not reacting to stress is another big one for controlling herpes.
